Recently, my lover gave me a new Mjolnir to wear, the image of which I have as my profile pic (or whatever those things are called that appear by your name on here). This meant that I no longer could wear the Mjolnir I had previously warn (since I’m not one for multiple necklaces and it might look odd with two versions of the same charm on a single string). But, as I’ve had it for years, and it’s quite precious to me, I don’t wanna just put it in a box or anything. It’s got a lot of my energy on it, and I wanted to still carry it around and use it (I am really breaking out the parenthesis here…).

So, in trying to figure out what to do with the Mjolnir I wasn’t wearing around my neck anymore, I hit upon an idea. I’d seen people using weights, crystals, and charms on strings for divination. So, why not create one for myself? So, after a bit of looking around, I found out what a pendulum was and how to use basically it.

A few posts back, when I was talking about myself, I said I didn’t have a teacher for my path. While this is true, I neglected to add in the fact that there are still people who teach me things. Once again, my lover (who gave me the new Mjolnir) came to my aid. She knows more about certain types of magic than I do (I’ve spent more of my time working on runic magic and alchemy than I have things like pendulums) and with her guidance and teaching, I discovered a much more advanced way to use the pendulum I was creating via a “Divination Board” and what I should put on it.

It is important to remember that even if they don’t teach you your path, that one must always respect those who teach you and cherish their teachings. I certainly do my best to do so with hers.

The Pendulum itself is made of three parts. The first part is the Mjolnir, of course. The second is a silver chain I found in the craft section of Wal-Mart. Last is the end, which is made from a blank amethyst stone that came in my rune stone set, kept in a copper wire ball. I added the amethyst because I wanted to tie the divination properties of the pendulum to they divination ability of my rune stones. The Blank hasn’t been in with the set since I bought it, so I have no idea how strong the connection is, but I figure it will at least help the pendulum draw in energy anyways.

Then there’s the Divination Board, which was her idea. At the center is a little design for the basic yes/no/etc. Above it is the numbers 1-0, which I’m sure will be useful and, at the bottom are the Elder Futhark runes (like those on my rune stones I use for divination). The design at the upper right corner is the five alchemical elements.

Initially, divination wasn’t something I was interested in. Knowing your future can create self-fulfilling prophesies. Not to mention that there are tons of stories out there about how in trying to prevent the future foretold, those involved create that exact future. I’ll also admit, my Judao-Christian childhood probably didn’t help.

However, when I got more and more into the runes and learned they could be used not just for writing, but for spells, enchantments, and divination, I started looking into it. After a series of events, I took up the divination of the runes. I’ve even done it professionally, and will continue to do so. Now, with my new pendulum, I am branching out further into this field. I’ve been told I have a talent for it. We’ll see.
