So, I’ve been told that I haven’t found a patron because I’m out of balance and haven’t settled enough for any one of my Gods and Goddesses to pick me as their own. I am not sure I agree with this, but I will admit that with everything going on, I am certainly not a balanced person.
So I attempted a “candle meditation” but I’m pretty sure it didn’t work. I know I have a few readers, so any advice you all have about how to meditate, meditation techniques, etc, would be very helpful.
Thank you. ๐
I can’t meditate for shit. I recommend requesting signs, dreams, omens, etc.

I can’t meditate sitting still for beans. Tai chi usually helps, or taking a long walk. Try finding something relatively mindless for your hands to do, like braiding cords or something, an let your mind wander.

I’m like you there. Tai chi might work though, if I could ever get the time. Even a bs version of tai chi, moving about it and trying to feel and flow energy…

A lot of people think that meditation is about sitting still and letting your mind go blank. Buddhists learn how to to this but it takes years of practice. I think meditation is more about concentration and at first it is better to concentrate on something rather than nothing. One technique I used (and still do sometimes) is remembering in detail a film or TV show. Imagine a TV screen or cinema screen inside your head and try to play back a show exactly as it was including the opening credits and music. Try to picture and hear everything exactly right, second for second as it was in the film. Choose a film you like and have seen several times. By the time you get good at doing this you will realise you have already entered a meditative state, and then you can start doing other things within that state.

hmmm, that’s an interesting technique. I’ve a terrible memory, but I suppose I could do something smaller. Would a song or smaller vid work?

sweet, I may have to try that. Learn like the lonely mountain song and use it to put me in a state of meditation or something. ๐

Dancing, for me, can be quite meditative. I can dance for hours, and come away with a clearer mind and more insight.
As for whatever reason you may not have a patron, I think it has nothing to do with being centered. Many of my friends have been nudged by their patrons during times of crisis. Each one of us is different and cannot expect our experiences to mirror others. I have been at this work for over 2 decades, and though I have worked exclusively with certain deities and times, I have no patron…….

I would have to agree with the other comments that quiet stillness is only one way to meditate. There is a strong tradition among Zen Buddhists to turn the most mundane of activities into a meditation whether it is sweeping a floor or chopping wood.
You can also think of top-level athletes and how they talk of being “in the zone,” a state where they are acting and moving on pure instinct without conscious thought. That is the goal of meditation – quieting the static of our over-thinking mind so that we can make deeper connections – at least that is how I see it.
