Hel is the Daughter of Loki and Angrboda.

Loki is the Brother of Odin, which makes her his niece and the Oath Granddaughter of Bor. Thor is her cousin, as were Baldr and Hodr.

Her brothers are Jormangandr, Fenrir, and Slepnir.

Being of Jotun birth she related to Ymir, the first Jotun, whose body makes up Midgard. She also swore an oath to Mordgud, who guards the bridge to Helheim.
