So I’ve been working my way through the Walking the Hedge archives (Juniper, you be awesome) and came across this. Decided I needed more content for my blog, and this would be something cool to do.

B A S I C S

Do you have a magical/Pagan name?

Not really, though I do have “Names” by which I identify myself, both because of the “state” I am in and to protect my “Birth Name” which I think is really half the point of a “Magica/Pagan” Name. Right now it is Lucius Svartwulf.

How did you find Paganism?

Honestly, halfway by accident. I was raised Christian, then Jewsish though I never converted. After that it was the Jedi and Sith paths, Atheism, and then Alchemy. It was through alchemy that I came to believe in the gods and spirits, and from there I just ended up picking a team and building my own road.

How long have you been practising?

Officially, hard to say, but somewhere around 6-8 years now.

Solitary or group practitioner?

Solitary. Been next to impossible to find a group. I’m too “conservative” for most of the other Pagans it seems. I tried reaching out to the AFA a few times, but last time I did the nearest “Kinship” was currently in a split and I haven’t heard from them since.

What is your path?

I’m not sure it has a name. Right now I’m going with sorcerer, but I tend to follow a lot of Heathenism and the Norse way.

What’s you brand of deism?

I am a Hard Polytheist. That means that I believe all the Gods and Spirits are their own individual selves, not aspect single or dual entity.

Who is your patron God?

Thor, I guess. He’s the one I’m closest to at the moment, but I’m not God-sworn or anything.

Who is your patron Goddess?

Hel and maybe Freyja. But again, not god-sworn.

What Gods do you worship?

The Norse Gods and Goddess, primarily. But I recognize the existence of all Divine.

Do you fear darkly aspected Gods/Goddesses, or rather respect them?

Not really. I’ve started walking with Hel, goddess of death. I’m something of a creature of darkness myself, so no.

Do you worship the Christian God?

No, a thousand times no. Nor in his Jewish or Muslim forms either. Got something of a blood fued on him for what was done to my people and our Gods a thousand years ago.

Do you worship animals? Or plants?

Not really, but I believe they have powers of their own.

Do you regularly commune with nature?

Not as much. I probably should, but there’s not as much time and I haven’t studied those ways as much. I’ve lived more like a monk or something in the past. And I tend to focus on all the elements, with Fire, Water, and Spirit being my strongest, so Earth/Nature isn’t something I’ve spent a lot of time with.

Taken a camping trip just to talk to nature?

No, but I’m planning on it. Hopefully in the next year.

Describe the moment you felt closest to Mother Earth?

Not sure I have one, at the moment.

Do you have a familiar?

Nope

Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual?

Nope.

Or a plant?

Not yet, but once I get an alchemy lab up and going, I will.

Do you hug trees?

Rarely.

Give them gifts?

Not yet, but if I can ever find an Alf Stone, I probably will leave some gifts there for the alfs and wights.

What  are your favourite  plants to work with?

I have a thing for cinnamon, at the moment. Not sure I’ve really worked with it, but it’s in my toothpaste and I have incense of it. Need to find more of those tictacs.

What are your favourite trees to work with?

I’d like to do some work with Yew, making a wand. I have a Hickory staff I need to enchant. Then there’s Oak for Thor, Birch for Freyja, and Ebony for Power, which I’d all like to try working with.

What is your favourite holiday?

Halloween and Yule. Death and Family. I know, odd mix.

What is your least favourite holiday?

St. Valentine’s Day is probably it.

Have you ever held a ritual on a holiday?

If by ritual you mean a toast or offering every night of Yule this year, then yes.

Ever taken a day off work to celebrate a Pagan holiday?

Halloween.

Do you celebrate Yule on the 21st rather than the 25th?

I celebrate Yule for 12 days, and I think it hit both the 21st and the 25th.

Have you ever felt the veil thin?

Maybe, but I’m not sure. Haven’t been trained for it and I have issues with my ability to detect such things, due to “burn out” because of lots of emotional trauma.

Ever danced the Maypole?

No, but it might be interesting.

Know what the Maypole symbolizes?

I’m sure I could look it up…

How do you usually celebrate the Pagan holidays?

Changes with the holidays. Halloween I dress up. Yule I’ve been doing toasts, offerings and a Yule log.

Do you use Tarot?

Never used them.

Do you use runes?

Yes, have a beautiful set of amethyst Elder Futhark Runes. Even read them professionally. I tend to have some very good luck reading with them. I even do runic magics.

Do you use a pendulum?

No.

Do you use dowsing rods?

No.

Do you use astrology?

A little.

Any other forms of divination?

Not at the moment.

S P E L L S

What was the first spell you did?

Well, I’m not sure, but the first one I know that word was what I ended up dubbing the “Iron Wall” wards I made with some basic runic magic. They worked really well. The problem is that the sealed everything in, and don’t work to let fresh energy in or remove negative energy.

What was the latest?

A divination to see who was fated to win the Iowa caucus. I’m thinking it’s Ron Paul, but we’ll see.

Ever done a love spell?

Nope.

A job spell?

No

A healing spell?

Tried it, but results were mixed. Did relieve some pain, but didn’t fix the problem.

What was the most powerful spell you’ve ever performed?

Probably a ward spell, so far. Either one I’ve put on my home, or one I did during a hale storm. The storm tore up the area really bad, brought down trees, signs, knocked the power out for days, but my car and the cars around mine only took minimal little dents, and no broken windows. So I figure it worked.

What deities do you usually call on?

Thor, Hel, sometimes Freyja, but generally just in trying to talk to them. My magic is my own. Relying on the power of others is not the Path of Power.

Do you believe in vampires?

Yes

Werewolves?

Yes.

Shapeshifters?

Yes.

Elves?

I come from the land of Alfs, so yeah, I believe in them.

Fairies?

The mystical or the sexual? Yeah, I believe in both of them, but don’t like getting involved.

Dragons?

Sure

Nymphs?

Yeah.

Sprites?

Ja.

Mermaids?

Yep.

Satyrs?

Little goat legged perverts? Sure.

Ever “seen” any of the above?

Maybe.

Ever used any of the above in magic?

No?

Do you have one of them as a personal guardian?

I don’t know. There might be some alfs or wights in my apartment complex, but I wouldn’t say they’re my personal guardians or anything.

R A N D O M

Do you see a rabbit, a man or a woman in the moon?

Face.

Own a cat?

Used too, but he died many years ago.

When you meditate, what does your happy place look like?

Probably like something from your nightmares.

Do you work with chakras?

Nope

Do you believe in past lives?

Jury is still out on that one.

If so, describe a few briefly:

See above

Do you believe in soul mates?

Not sure.

Do you have a spirit guide?

Not really. Wish I had a teacher, but so far no dice.

Is it always love and light?

No. Sometimes it’s hate and darkness and power. Because only two things matter in this world, as a sorcerer once said: Power and Style, and in a pinch you can do without style.
