This is something that should be near and dear to every Heathen Heart. Re-posted in Part from The Norse Mythology Blog. Go there to read the full article.
UNMATCHED HEATHEN SHRINE FOUNDNow one of them, in its time deliberately and carefully hidden, is rediscovered – the first of its kind in Norway. The temple – which last year was identified as a near-complete construction in the city of Ranheim in South Trøndelag, approximately 10 km north of Trondheim – was discovered by accident in connection with plans for construction of homes.
This Site is One Of A Kind! And it was destroyed to build a housing development! This Temple was hidden away and preserve for a Thousand Years. Raise your voice in protest, do not let our sacred heritage be lost!

This was posted on a forum I read not too long ago. How disappointing and angering to find an ancient site and not even preserve it and tear it down for housing developments. Sickening. I almost can’t even believe the Norwegians would do that.

A great discovery, it’s too bad the world doesn’t give as much value to our heathen heritage as they do to Christianity’s. But they breed Right-wing Christian Terrorists in Norway, so what should we Heathens expect. Maybe if the Asatruarfeligidhe raised a motion pertaining to it being a heritage site, things might change. If someone creates and circulates a petition to save the site, I and many I know would be willing to sign!
