so, today was day off, but thanks to drama last night (part of which was blowing out a tire) nothing much got done today. I may talk about what happened later, but for now I have to keep trucking with a spare a friend had till we can get things going.
btw, I. Hate. Fairies.
aww… what did the faeries do?

Well, more like one fairy, but she played a mean trick that got a number of people hurt. Let’s just say sleeping beauty curses are sh*t and that if I ever find her in range of my…skills…she’s going to wish I was messing with cold iron.
On the flip side, I managed to make some cool magical gear and beefed up my home wards something harsh…not worth the price, but they’ll be sweet when the time comes for some payback.

I confess myself torn. On one hand I do not think you would say such a thing without extreme provocation, and on the other my own particular soft spot for the fae. You see I have a pretty good relationship with the little domestic wights that some call fairies. I have immense respect for the larger and more serious fae. I do hope you will be able to elaborate on th incident.

well, the time isn’t right to share everything. but here’s a bit.
a certain…higher fae…decided that she wanted to see what I could do since I apparently have a rather…unique ability. So, her best idea was to take a hostage, via the use of the “sleeping beauty” spell as I’ve been calling it, or an enchanted sleep. Her bright Idea was that I fight a friend of mine, (also apparently with a unique power) or else…we don’t get the hostage back.
So. I fought.
I am starting to think it was a more complex trap. The full ramifications haven’t come about yet.
This…fae…gave back the hostage. Of course, the conditions of the hostage’s return weren’t apparently set, the spirit companion we had was run straight to empty and their safety is still in doubt (we won’t know for a while if something happened to it), and the fae mindwiped the hostage back to the age of 13 years old. It is only through some extreme luck, a rune I believe Odin may have helped me create, and not without several physical injuries, that we managed to get the hostage safe, and with memory restored.
In a slightly technical point of order, wights aren’t actually fae. They’re of a different spiritual base, have different strengths and weaknesses, and behave much differently than the fae, though in certain lands I’m sure you see them mingling. ๐ And I really am afraid I don’t share your soft spot for the fae. In my experience/book they’re a group of inhuman tricksters that should be avoided at best.
This particular fae is going to see the worst, if I ever get my hands on it.

Sounds like pretty standard “Let’s run this human through a bit of temper-in-fire type mischief” fae to me. I know that’s not what you wanted to hear… We’re in the dark of the year. The Winter Court tends toward cruel lessons towards those they see as inferior (read: humans), but rarely do they act without cause. You must act as you see fit, of course.
I’m aware that wights are different- I attract both.

I get what you’re saying. But this was apparently a Summer court fae. A rather high up one. There’s a few other elements that, at least in my opinion, take this elsewhere than the “temper in fire” type of thing. But that’s neither here nor there.
What is here and there is the fact that I’m a Heathen. I don’t know if a fae can or can’t understand that, though it should be smart enough to sense the mark of Asgard upon me. It’s all about a gift for a gift. the Fae wanted something and it got it. Had it left it at that, it would have been enough to perhaps let it slide.
Perhaps.
But it took it further. And if it was a “trial by fire” type thing, that’s fine. But the fact is that now, in theory, I’m in debt to this fae. And that means that I should return a like gift unto it. So treachery, a trial by fire, or what have you. It hurt me and mine.
This is the way of Heathens. Like for Like.

Like for like is a very Winter ideal. Interesting. I’d be very curious to hear the rest of the details, but I understand that that is personal. I wish you safety.

when it is safe to do so, I likely will.
