So, I actually had a bit of a crafting project this last week. I’d been wanting a new tarot deck, and had found one online. So I put it together, with a bit of help from R. Now, under most situations I would buy, and it is my plan when I get the chance to go buy a copy, but as a temporary thing (and because I felt called to it for some reason) I put this one together.
A while back I’d run across a conversation online about “vulgar” types of decks, idols, etc and how people viewed them. Some were negative, some where indifferent. I don’t recall that many were positive. I, frankly, am fine with it, because life isn’t always pretty, and a God or Goddess of sex/love/fertility rules over all aspects of it. One of the ones that was mentioned was the Sensual Goddess Tarot.
So I got curious. Just be warned, it is what some would consider an…adult…deck.
Anyways, got it put together and have started working with it. I have to say, it’s different than my Steampunk Deck. I had someone more familure with tarot watch me work with the Steampunk Deck, and said that it was a Masculine deck and wanted to work with me. I like it, but it can be a bit…obscure at times. Like a stodgy old British man, I guess. I’ve used up half a deck trying to get answers from my SP deck. So far, I’ve done one reading with the Sensual Goddess deck, and it came out a lot clearer. What I’d like to do is run the same question with both decks at the same time and see what happens. But I haven’t done that yet.
Anyways, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the “alternative” style decks out there that can push what some people think is acceptable. I don’t know how many are out there, but I know some out there have better resources than me and may have come across stuff.
Hmm. I prefer more traditional art decks as opposed to photograph decks, but that’s just me. I prefer decks that are at least similar to the traditional Rider Waite deck because that’s the symbolism I’m most familiar with.

I don’t consider the Sensual Goddess Tarot to be either vulgar or even that sexual. Unlike other decks, which bill themselves as “erotic”, there are no sexual situations in this deck. It’s about tapping into the energy of the Goddess archetype and whether you are male or female, the power of the feminine energy is within us all. I am puzzled why there are those who seem to have a knee-jerk reaction whenever they see a boobie. If someone has walls about sensuality, one of the most primal forces in our lives, then maybe they should re-evaluate the personal baggage and psychological issues that may be blocking them from connecting with the higher forces in a way that they should be. The Sensual Goddess Tarot Deck works better because it connects with the symbology of real people, not fantasy icons. I think people need to grow up and cast aside their complexes in order to open themselves up. Most people I have spoken to have also gotten much better results with this deck. Perhaps your success is due to the fact that you are more open and accepting than many. That’s a good thing! I think this will work well for you.

I’m interested to hear in the others who have used this deck and their results. I’m trying to figure out if its something about the deck, or if it’s because I made my version of it?
But I do agree with you, thanks for the comment. 🙂

Lucius,
Further to the above discussion, I would like to draw your attention to a recently updated page on The Sensual Goddess Tarot Deck web site. For those who don’t seem to understand, this may help: http://www.sensual-goddess.com/about-the-images-sensual-goddess-tarot-deck.html
BTW, I love your banner image. Where did you find that?

So you stole it.
Aren’t you even slightly interested of who made the artwork? He might have made more of the same kind…
And perhaps, because you, and everyone else, steals his art, he stops making art? What will you miss because you stole his work?
Maybe you could at least credit him for his work, and encourage him to continue with it?

Oleanna, I don’t mind page 3 girls or naked breasts. They just aren’t empowering, or connected to Goddess in any way more than fully dressed people of all genders.
Some people have a knee-jerk reaction of getting sexually aroused by seeing naked female breasts, but that’s not what “sensual” means. I am a straight woman and I don’t get that reaction when I see boobs. I have seen a lot in my life, my own and other women’s, and there’s nothing mystical, sensual, mysterious, taboo, exciting or divine in them – or not more than in any other body part, to say. Maybe if one doesn’t see them very often, they become like holy grail and one gets all excited when one sees some.
But, if it makes you feel better, when people care more about the symbolism of the tarot cards than your boobs, to say they have “psychological issues”, go ahead. 😀
