Some Satanists bask in their elitism. I always feel a little bit embarrassed by that aspect of our beliefs. I suppose I have never really liked the idea of elitism; that some people are better, more knowledgeable and more powerful than others for reasons that the βothersβ have very little control over. I suppose that feeling stems mainly from politics and history and the undeniable truth that various elites have frequently assumed power by foul or illegal means and then abused that power by exploiting and subjugating everyone else without mercy.
And yet the reality of life is that elites always do exist in every aspect of life and they are not in themselves good or bad; they just are. I can run when I have to and I enjoy swimming but the difference between me and an elite athlete is a huge chasm and it would be stupid toβ¦

Just curious, but since we often (but not always) agree on things; would you consider Heathenry to be a Left Hand Path? (Maybe aidea for a future post…) π

lol, I would consider it more to be a two handed path, with both right and left hands gripped firmly around the handle of a hammer π
At least the way I practice it, anyways. There’s no concept of good or evil in Heathenism, only of honor and dishonor. And you can do a lot of “evil” deeds and have them be honorable, if they help your family. you can do a lot of good deeds and they be found dishonorable too, if they hurt your family.
A personal example. Some might think that love is good, and that the pursuit of love is Good, because it brings happiness to two people. But if in the pursuit of that love, you treat someone who has taken you in an tried to treat you as family like they’re shit, and steal the woman of his dreams because you and she think the both of you are better together than she is with him, that is dishonorable. So a “good” deed has dishonorable actions. On the flip side, some might think being poly is “evil” but if you start such a relationship, and offer home and shelter to the other person in good faith, trusting both him and your beloved that they will act with honor in exchange for your honorable deed…and you hold to being a good host regardless of how ill you are treated by both…is that not honorable, while performing an action some consider evil? Stupid, I learned, but honorable.
